FAQ
Are the prices on your website trade prices?
Yes they are. We sell our boxes to trade customers with a minimum of 12 boxes of each colour or size.
Do prices include VAT?
It will be added automatically to your shopping basket total at the checkout. The prices shown on each product page do not include VAT at the current rate of 20%. If you are in a VAT exempt area call us to remove the VAT from your payment. We will, however, need your VAT number. If you are not registered for VAT we're afraid you still have to pay it but can’t claim it back
Can I mix colours?
Yes but only on a minimum of 12 of each size/colour. Sorry we can’t split and mix colours within 12. We did do it in the early days but we ended up with too many part cartons and damages so we had to stop offering this service.
Will I get my boxes the next day?
If you order before 12 noon then the chances are yes, especially if you are in the Home Counties. However, next day delivery is not guaranteed, ideally allow up to 3 days if you are in a rural location. If delivery is critical please call us to arrange a special timed delivery and we will confirm the extra cost.
Can I remove the ribbon?
I guess the simple answer is not easily. The ribbon is fixed to the box through a slit in the paper on the front flap and base of the box and fixed from the inside during the manufacturing process. If you cut it off you will see the slit in the paper. We have had some customers who have removed it and added a decorative sticker to cover the slits. We even had a customer who managed to add their own ribbon but we suspect you’ll need to be very crafty and patient to achieve a good result!
Can I change the ribbon?
Sorry but no, the ribbon is fixed at the factory in China during manufacture.
Can I add my own logo?
Yes, speak
to one of our print partners at Chiltern Foil or Nunet to discuss your
requirements. They can foil block, screen print or emboss logos and designs.
See the print tab on each product page or go to our useful links.
How Much Does it cost to add a logo?
To be honest it depends on many factors. How many boxes, how many colours, complexity of your design, how quickly you need them. That’s why we suggest customers contact our print partners direct. It saves you time and cost.
Can I post out boxes as they are?
No, they are high quality and very rigid but they need an extra brown corrugated carton to protect them in the post. Speak to Defendapack our mailing carton partner. They have stock standard sizes to fit all our boxes or can make you a custom size. Speak to them or e-mail them direct, it will save you time and cost.
How much tissue or shredded paper do I need?
Speak to Sue at Shredhouse, they manufacture and are very helpful. They know our boxes and can advise the suggested amount of shred or tissue depending on how many boxes you buy and what you plan to pack in the boxes.
Do you do gloss finish boxes?
No we don’t. We selected a matte finish after a lot of market research and initial sampling. We think it looks best and it’s also much easier to print the surface of the paper with a much cleaner finish if you want to add your logo.
Where are the boxes made?
In China. We use a very limited selection of three factories that have proven themselves to be able to achieve the quality we need. Please believe we have researched and produced samples with many factories to find the ones we trust and rely on.
Can I visit to see your range and discuss ideas?
Yes, you are more than welcome. We have samples of all our stock sizes and colours and a display area to show all the types of boxes we can make. Please be sure to call us and book an appointment with Fiona or Nicole. Sorry but we generally do not accept visits without prior arrangement.
Can I collect samples from you?
Yes if you live locally and want to save the postage cost. Just let us know in advance and we will ensure we have the ones you need. We do not accept credit card payments at the office but we can accept cash payment. It is usually best to pay on line and then collect them. Call us for a price reduction for collection.
Can I collect bulk stock from you?
Sorry but no. We don’t warehouse our stock boxes in Luton we only have an office, display and samples.
Where are the goods despatched from?
Our warehouse in Essex.
I’m local or my courier is cheaper, can I collect boxes from Essex?
Yes you can. However boxes must be paid for and you must make a prior arrangement to collect them at least 24 hours in advance. Our warehouse will not release boxes that have not been booked for collection and they cannot take payment. Please call us for the warehouse address and contact details.
I’ve received my boxes but a few are dented, what do I do?
Please call or e-mail us. We are really very sorry but inevitably it is unavoidable on the odd occasion as with any item. We check our boxes for quality before they leave our factory in China but it is impossible to open and check every carton when they arrive in the UK. Unless we see evident transit damage we have to believe the boxes inside are fine. They’ve come a long way so they may have been damaged from China or they may have been damaged from our warehouse to you. It is often difficult to know. Please let us know if there is any transit damage to the outer or inner carton as this helps us identify the problem. We will replace damaged boxes or credit them, depending on how you want us to deal with the problem.
Is the factory in China ethical?
Yes absolutely, we guarantee it. We have personally visited the factories we work with many times. We would not work with factories who do not treat workers well and fairly. It is illegal to employ children in China and the workers at our factories have to provide ID to prove they are over 18. In addition our factories have been independently socially audited by a world recognized independent company. We also have ad hoc factory visits to monitor production and quality.
Can I recycle your boxes?
Yes depending on any restrictions from your local authority which vary from town to town.
The magnets don't seem to be working, what should I do?
Magnets are like people, they like being together! We use strong magnets on our boxes so you should not experience any problems but if they do not produce a positive closure immediately, you may need to give them a little time. Magnetism gets stronger over time and magnets can also be adversely affected by cold weather. Our boxes spend at least 4 weeks shipping from China and may also have been in our warehouse for a few weeks, so the magnets may have been apart for quite some time. Allow the boxes to come up to room temperature if the weather is cold. Close the box front flap and leave for 24 hours, the magnetism will increase and the closure flap should be fine.
Still not working?
Please contact us. It is very unlikely but our boxes are hand made and it's possible the magnets have been assembled incorrectly and are repelling each other rather than attracting each other. We have only had a handful of boxes with this problem in all the years we have been making boxes but if having tried the above instructions you still have problems, please contact us for possible replacement.
